Ingrid Martin is a highly sought after conductor and music educator. Ingrid trained in Medicine at Monash University and worked as an emergency physician while maintaining a busy musical life as a Conductor, Horn Player and Violinist. A decision to further her conducting training meant relocating to the University of Minnesota where she completed a post graduate degree with mentor, Craig Kirchhoff.
Ingrid shares how a desire to pursue diverse interests gave her the self belief and confidence to establish a conducting career following on from her medical career. She talks about the connection between medicine and music through the interpersonal skills of listening, empathy and non-verbal communication; and how ‘finding her tribe’ during her graduate studies ignited an entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to music education.
